League of Social Democrats leader Raymond Wong Yuk-man said his party will be in a dilemma if the Civic Party ``chickens out'' of an attempt to force a de facto referendum on universal suffrage by 2012.
It also fears the Democratic Party will not take part in its proposal for five pro-democratic lawmakers in geographic constituencies to resign and stand for re-election.
``We have to consider whether to go ahead if there's only three of us [Wong, Albert Chan Wai-yip and Leung Kwok-hung] resign,'' he said.
The league came up with the proposal this summer, but it fears its integrity will be questioned if it now drops it.
``[Independent lawmaker] Cyd Ho Sau-lan has been supportive and if we have her, we will only need one more pan- democrat,'' Albert Chan said. Pan-democrats will meet Chief Executive Donald Tsang Yam-kuen on Friday.
